Ben's Story

"I was born with Arthrogryposis, which limits the range of movements throughout my body. I use a wheelchair for mobility because I have no muscle growth.

I can’t thank Northcott Disability Services enough for all the things they have supported me for. Since the age of three I have been a client of Northcott. They provide me with every opportunity to do the things I enjoy and are important in my day to day life. I can’t even begin to think of the long list of things they have helped me with.

I want to enjoy the things that most people can, and with Northcott’s Respite, Recreation and Community Participation Programs, I am able to do those things. Hanging out with my friends, getting support for my studies, enjoying recreational activities, giving my parents a break, going on fun trips or simply watching my favourite AFL team play live are some of the ways Northcott have supported me.

I am currently studying a Bachelors Degree in social work at the University of Western Sydney. It was my social worker at Northcott who has been a great support and inspired me to do this course. My aim is to become a qualified social worker so I can help people with a disability deal with personal and social issues."
