Bequests

A decision you make today could change a child’s life tomorrow. There are many ways one can give.

Bequests continue to form the largest private source of income to Northcott Disability Services. By giving in this way, with a gift that keeps on giving, you can help us secure the future of a vital service.

Many have been inspired to give in this way, like Australia’s supreme storyteller May Gibbs. When she died in 1969, May left a living legacy to children in the form of royalties from the copyright of her work. These were to be shared equally between Northcott (then known as the NSW Society for Crippled Children) and another charity.

A bequest or gift can be in the form of money, real estate, a percentage of the residue of your estate, or even something personal like jewellery or a painting. Another form of deferred giving is making Northcott the beneficiary of your life insurance policy. Like bequests, it requires minimum lifetime payments and will help us ensure that our young clients are able to lead independent, fulfilling lives.

Making a will should be one of the most important decisions you make. In Australia, over 30% of people die without leaving a will. This means that others are left to make the decisions regarding their assets.

By leaving a bequest to Northcott, you can help us create a brighter future for children with disabilities and their families and know that your decision will leave a living legacy.
